How Do I Vote?

This list provides all 50 states and Washington, D.C., in alphabetical order, along with links to their official state websites where you can register to vote online and find polling locations. These official resources include the required documentation and step-by-step instructions for registering, as well as notes on each state’s ID laws and requirements for voting, helping you understand what identification, if any, you need to bring to the polls.

Early In-Person Voting

Early in-person voting allows registered voters to cast their ballots before Election Day, making voting more convenient and helping reduce long lines at polling places. It’s an option in most states, giving people more flexibility to vote when it works best for them. However, Alabama, Mississippi, and New Hampshire are the only states that do not offer early in-person voting, so voters in those states must plan to vote on Election Day or through absentee ballots if eligible.

With this list, you can take the first steps to participate in elections by registering to vote and finding out where and when to cast your ballot.
